Larger Penalties for 2nd Degree Sexual Offenders in Rhode Island!

In Rhode Island, 2nd degree sexual assault laws require sexual offenders to serve a minimum of six years and a maximum of 15 years in prison. However, the imprisoned person is eligible for parole within one-third of their sentence. This means that someone who gets the minimum sentence for 2nd degree sexual assault (forced sexual contact with an incapacitated person) is eligible for parole after serving just 2 years in prison!
This is not enough. 15 years should be the minimum sentence, not the maximum! 2nd degree sexual assault is just as traumatizing as rape, and should be treated that way!
