Demand an End to Sault College's Medical Marijuana Discrimination

Sault College has made it so that any student who requires Medical Cannabis for relief of symptoms associated with their disabilities, has to seek out PRE-APPROVAL to be able to use their medication in the designated smoking areas on Campus.
This is blatant discrimination, as, users of any other medication (ex. opiates, aderall, etc.) can medicate anywhere on campus WITHOUT pre-approval.
Smokers of cigarettes also DO NOT require pre-approval.
Requiring pre-approval for Medical Cannabis creates STIGMA, and contradicts the Sault College Statement of Diversity:
"Sault College’s Strategic Plan boldly declares that we will put “students first” and that we will be the pre-eminent student-centred college. Intrinsic to these declarations is the commitment that we value and embrace diversity, equity, inclusion and respect as core to the creation of an invitational college at which all students have the opportunity to succeed."
    and the College's Guiding Principles:
"As such we demonstrate leadership in eliminating barriers, and implementing and promoting diversity through our academic policies, special initiatives and proactive measures."

"We are committed to addressing and eliminating harassment and discrimination by working to create a college which practices inclusion in our classrooms, support services and workplace."

I am also calling on the SCSU and StudentCare to add Medical Cannabis to the college's Group Benefits health plan.

as it stands, Medical Cannabis students have to choose between books, equipment, and transit OR to buy their prescription for the month to relieve their symptoms.

Sun Life Financial has added Medical Cannabis to their benefits, and they promise to cover 80% of the cost of prescriptions.
Without coverage, students pay more than $65 for 2 days worth of medication. This equals upwards of $1000 every month, which equals over $4000 per semester, ALL OF WHICH COULD BE GOING TO EDUCATION INSTEAD!
BUT, Sault College doesn't want to add it to our benefits AND they still argue that they practice inclusion.... more like EXCLUSION!

With these signatures, I will demand the College update its Student Accomodation Policy to remove the need for Medical Cannabis users to be pre-approved to relieve their symptoms, and I will demand that StudentCare adds Medical Cannabis to our Group Benefits
