Thank Washington University for ending Use of Cats in Research

Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, (a private research facility), has announced it will stop using live cats to teach medial students how to perform tracheal intubation on infants. The proceedure teaches how to place a tube down the windpipe- and has caused unnecessary suffering to animals since there are anatomically correct, state-of-the-art infant simulators.
As students "practice" on animals- mistakes are often made, causing chronic pain, suffering and injury to cat- sometimes resulting in the death of the cat. Bruising, bleeding, swelling and scarring to broken teeth, and collapsed lungs are a few of the inhumane effects of using live animals.
Thank Chancellor Mark Stephen Wrighton of Washington University in St. Louis for ending the cruel and outdated practice of using live animals at the universtivy.
