Disbanding The Electoral College

The Electoral College's original meaning was to let small towns, counties, states, etc., have a voice in politics. But as the country's population grew, the college was no longer needed, but it stayed, and still stands, so it is now used to give the loser 1st place. One example that comes to mind is the 2016 presidential election. Donald Trump Lost 62,984,828 votes, to Hillary's 65,853,514 votes. This was the AMERICAN PEOPLE'S VOTE. He lost, but the Electoral College vote was: Trump 304, Hillary 227.
How is that fair? Well, it isn't. If our voice does not count, then what is the point of voting if the 2nd place is given 1st? Now I did not make this petition because of my political views. I made it because the people's voice should be heard. This is what our country was founded on, to give the people a voice. I'll put it like this. You're on a football team, and your team has made it to the state playoff game, the game that declares your team state champions. It's a close game, but in the end, your team wins the game 24 to 20. But 3 of the 5 referees liked the other team's jerseys more, so you lose, and the opposite team wins. Is that fair? No, so why should our voting process be like this? Let's fix it, so that the people who worked hard and earned their spot can get it, and that the people's voice matters.
