dARTford not DIRTford

dARTford is bursting with urban artists who are willing to give their talents, time and expenses to the heart of the town, bringing some vitally needed colour to otherwise bleak and derelict areas, but due to ignorant and out dated views from the head of Dartford council, Jeremy Kite, legal projects of this kind have been quashed or painted over without any consultation of dARTford's people and it's residents have been denied the colour so desparately needed.

Teenagers have grown up around ugly boarded up buildings and rubble, for many years, and in the wake of a failed supermarket take over which has half demolished the town centre and left the neighbourhood in tatters, the demand for colour and HOPE is now even more obvious and greater than ever before!
Realising the need and with an overwhelming desire to bring a glimmer of colour and hope here, a group of community minded artists recently spent a day and a stack of dosh producing some wonderful works of art  for the people of Dartford to enjoy, free of charge. The project created a pulse of excitement and seemed to instantly revitalise the dead heart of Dartford's Lowfield street. The work was beautiful and there was much positive feedback on it, but with no official permission or apreciation from the council, the hope was quickly dashed as council workers covered it over with an ugly brown paint within 24 hours of its creation. There was certainly a crime here, but people disagree on who committed the worse crime as these bonified works of art were demolished instead of being preserved.

We demand to see a lift of this ridiculous embargo on an organically evolving art-form and at the very least, an inclusive consultation with people of all ages on the subject throughout the borough. Unclog Dartford's Arteries!!!!
