Tell Congress to Investigate the NCAA

The NCAA states its core purpose as "Our purpose is to govern competition in a fair, safe, equitable and sportsmanlike manner, and to integrate intercollegiate athletics into higher education so that the educational experience of the student-athlete is paramount."  It has become apparent in the past few months that the NCAA is no longer able to live up to this purpose.  The NCAA has become reliant on the marketability and monetary gains of certain sporting events as a basis for its rulings.  This not only hurts the NCAA but also the tax payer supported Universities that it serves.  It has become a tool of Television marketers, BCS executives, and greedy individuals.  The evidence of this fact is startling and can be seen here: Tell Congress to Investigate the NCAA.  We don't want our tax dollars supporting an organization that is taking advantage of institutions of higher learning!  The NCAA needs congressional over-site.
We the undersigned believe that the NCAA has become a burden on the universities of the United States of America.   The NCAA has become a tool of media, money, and corporations to advance their profitability.  The result being that the NCAA is unable to fulfill its mission of fairly administering college athletics.  If the NCAA helps some universities based on money and probability it is in effect hurting the others.  The NCAA receives $639M dollars from television revenues every year.  This creates a conflict in interest.  It has become the interest of the NCAA to help maintain the profitability of the BCS and college sports. Rather than protecting the well being of student athletes.   It does all of this while being tax exempt itself.  The NCAA was created as a tool to make sure all universities and athletes were treated fairly.  It has become a tool of the BCS to make profit.  We urge you to investigate the NCAA.  Thank you for your time and consideration.
