The NRA Is Taking Over Our Democracy, and Ted Cruz Is Their #1 Tool

Since the 2012 tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School — where a gunman killed 20 first graders and six adults with an assault rifle — there have been more than 239 school shootings nationwide. And yet, Congress has continuously failed to implement any common sense laws on gun reform — all because of the influence of the National Rifle Association (NRA).

As hundreds of children die, with many more living in constant fear for their lives, corrupt politicians continue to accept campaign contributions from the NRA and gun industry PACs in exchange for their inaction on gun control. And Texas Senator Ted Cruz is one of the worst offenders.

Ted Cruz has repeatedly shown he's out for himself, not the people of Texas or America. Please sign this petition demanding that Ted Cruz withdraw from his Senate race now.

With an 100% approval rating from the NRA, Senator Ted Cruz sits firmly at the top of the list of politicians who receive NRA money. During his 2016 presidential run, the NRA's stranglehold on Cruz was even worse — he received $360,727 from the terrorist organization. And just as expected, Cruz has continually responded to school shootings by offering "thoughts and prayers" rather than any meaningful action that could save human lives.

His complicity in the loss of human lives to gun violence is just the tip of the iceberg of reasons why Ted Cruz should leave politics forever. He also does not care that one million Texans live without health care, and wants sick and poor people to have to pay more to get less coverage than they have now. He was the sole vote against finding a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers. And he stands staunchly against women and their right to reproductive freedom.

Ted Cruz cares about Ted Cruz and no one else. He has no place in the Senate if he's going to put his political aspirations over the people of Texas and America. It is time for his reign to end.

Sign now, and let's demand Ted Cruz leave politics once and for all.
