Prosecute Savoy Man Guilty of Animal Cruelty of More Than 30 Cats

This guy was proven completely guilty of at least 31 counts of animal cruelty but is trying to get those charges dismissed because he claims authorities were not fully in their rights to investigate his facility. Whether they followed proper protocol or not, this man was clearly discovered with many cats in poor condition that were in his care; his poor care!

There just seems to be something wrong with our justice system when someone can be found with 31 animals living in squalor and get the charges dismissed on a technicality during the investigation. The fact of the matter is, this man, John F. D'Alessandro, of Griffin Hill Road was found running an unlicensed cat kennel that was so filthy, officials described it as hazardous. This guys was allegedly running a kitten mill at his facility and selling the animals online. Charges against him are 31 counts of felony for animal abuse along with 25 counts of failure to provide the animals the rabies vaccine.

The investigation and charges resulted after numerous complaints from neighbors in the area. Authorities doing the investigation stated that "When we entered the house the smell of urine and feces was so overpowering we all gasped for air. There was feces all over the house in piles. There was feces covering about every inch of counter top in the kitchen. There was urine throughout the entire down stairs of the house."

It was also discovered that the cats and kittens were all infested with ear mites and fleas. The felines were also suffering with eye infections and upper respiratory infections so severely that many of the animals had blood seeping from their mouths and noses. The residence appeared to be uninhabited with no heat or power sources. The odor coming from the homes was indescribable.

Without giving full details, a judge wants to dismiss all counts of animal cruelty because of violation of his rights when authorities did the investigation. The judged ruled the initial application for a search warrant did not reach the threshold of probable cause, dismissing all evidence uncovered at this guy's residence.  They say that the information contained in the warrant does not establish that there is criminal activity but the condition of the premises and state of the animals should have said it all! Despite the legalities of "his rights" this man was clearly guilty of animal cruelty and needs to be charged as such!
