Keep Rent Control Intact in NYC!

This week, New York legislators and Governor Cuomo allowed a critical law that protects millions of New York City tenants to expire. Negotiations came to a halt as they failed to come to a compromise.

These regulations cover rent-controlled and rent-stabilized units in and around New York City. They are critical for ensuring that there is still affordable housing in New York City and that landlords aren't allowed to make unreasonable increases in rent or changes to eviction policies.

The legislature has had months to come up with a good plan for extending these rules, but instead has allowed them to expire. Please sign this petition demanding that the law be renewed immediately, with strong protections for the 2 million tenants residing in New York City.

Dear Gov Cuomo and NY Legislators,

I am dismayed to hear that you have allowed the rent control laws in New York City to expire. Millions of New Yorkers rely on you to make sure that we are protected from unreasonable rent increases and eviction policies.

Please work quickly to ensure that an agreement is reached for renewing these critical protections for renters in New York City. Thank you for your time.
