HELP ME TO END DOG FIGHTING !!!!!

Mr. Trudeau and Mr. Obama,

Dog fighting is more than horrific violence we force dogs to inflict upon themselves, sometimes to the death. People who engage in this animal cruelty claim that dogs like it and want to fight... but we all know that this is a lie... In fact, the dogs have forced to learn to always be in defense position and fight for their lives.

Dogs that are born, bought or stolen for fighting are often neglected and abused from the start. Most spend their entire lives alone on chains or in cages and only know the attention of a human when they are being trained to fight and they only know the company of other animals in the context of being trained to kill them. Additionally, most dogs spend their entire lives without adequate food, water, or shelter. When a dog is not successful in a fight, a professional may dispose of it using a variety of techniques such as drowning, strangulation, hanging, gunshot, electrocution or some other method.

And to train a fighting dog and to test a dog's fighting instinct, people used to use a bait dog; they are often mauled or killed in the process. The snouts of bait animals are often wrapped with duct tape to prevent them from fighting back. A bait animal's teeth may also be broken to prevent them from fighting back and often, the owner broke some bones to make the dog as weak as possible for the fighting dog or even cut off a part of a leg. If the bait animals are still alive after the training sessions, they are usually given to the dogs as a reward, and the dogs finish killing them.

We, the undersigned, request that you severly punish anyone who organize, participate or make the promotion of dog fighting or dog baiting. No animal should ever have to live in the conditions these dogs are living and no animal should ever suffer because of abusers. These animals are in deplorable conditions and this is not acceptable.

We request more severe punisment against the people who organize these fights but also against people who participate to these fights by any means. This can't be tolerate anymore. Government have to tell those people that animal abusers can't just walk away with a slap on the wrist. More severe and more often applied jail sentences COMBINED to more severe fines and the lost of the right to possess any animal for the rest of the person's life should be some of the consequences of dog fighting and a record of animal abusers should be put in place. This barbaric practice has to stop. The actual punisments are not severe enough.  They have no impact on dog fighters.  Prison sentences should be higher (minimum of 5 years for every case, done in prison (not in collectivity) without possibility of getting out earlier) and a fine should be applied WITH the jail sentence and the fine should be  minimum of 50 000 $ for every case.  The most the implication of the person is important, the most the sentences should be too.  Remember that dog fighting is related to other crimes : drugs dealing, weapons traffic, prostitution, money laudering and much more....And the sentences should be the same in each and every states for the United States.  As the sentences are not the same, dog fighters used to go in a state where if they got caught, the sentence is less important than the other states, so it has to be the same all around the United States. 

We also request your goverment to give more money to the animal welfare organizations, so they can track people who organize these fights. Create special independant units to investigate, track and arrest the criminals. We need to have more animal welfare organizations to which give the power to do that. These organizations could also track animal abusers in general.

Please, don't ignore us, don't ignore THEM...
