No Royal Farms Gas Station

Royal Farms Store with 14 fuel pumps at 7 stations, 70+ parking spaces proposed for corner of Harford Road & Glenmore Ave is opposed by the neighborhood for the following reasons:
Traffic Problems: busy 5-way intersection. DOT study in progress.
Threat to Local Business:
The area has sufficient existing fueling services and convenience stores. Already 4 gas stations within less than 1 mile.
Establishment Too Large/Inconsistent with Urban Renewal Initiatives:
MainStreet initiatives support small business, unhealthy food choices thwart "Healthy City" efforts.
24/7 Crime Hazard Drawing problematic late-night traffic through neighborhood corridor and changing foot-traffic patterns
Litter & Trash
Exacerbating an already existing issue in the area
Environmentally Unfriendly Gas Pumps
Inconsistent with City and national green building initiatives

Dear City Officials,

It is the opinion of all signed hereto that a Royal Farms store or similar corporate convenience establishment with fueling services to be located on the property at the corner of Harford Road and Glenmore Ave, Baltimore City is an inappropriate land use. In keeping with green development/building initiatives, urban renewal and traffic considerations, we request that no zoning variances for fuel pumps be granted. We seek to develop our neighborhood in the style of MainStreet initiatives, with which this establishment is inconsistent. We request that all City Planning personnel, executives and politicians take our position into consideration.

Respectfully,

Hardford Road Community Collective
