Under the direction of John Deasy, the Los Angeles Unified School District has been persecuting senior teachers under the ruse of “protecting” children from what he calls “egregious child molesters” and “teachers arrested for prostitution”. Hundreds of senior teachers who are at the top of the salary scale are falsely accused of child abuse and removed from the classroom while their classes are covered by substitutes, in many cases for more than a year. Some are not even charged. This costs the district $2.2 million per month. Though Mr. Deasy said in an interview on KNBC in Los Angeles that teachers cleared by law enforcement will be returned to the classroom, most are suspended without pay and summarily dismissed based solely upon unfounded and unverified accusations. This witch hunt continues with the approval of the school board dominated by a majority that are pro-charter school and privatization and that do not care about the horrendously bad example that they are creating for the children under their care and the huge cost in money and destroyed careers.
