Boycott the 2018 Commonwealth Games due to marine wildlife slaughter

In 2018 the Australian state of Queensland and the city of the Gold Coast will host the Commonwealth Games.

Such a prestigious event comes with responsibility.

Every year the Queensland government is responsible for the slaughter of thousands of marine wildlife.

It permits about 78 000 sharks to be killed on the Great Barrier Reef every year.

It operates a system or murderous baited drum lines and nets along almost the entire Queensland coast that kills scores of sharks, dolphins, whales, dugongs, turtles and other marine wildlife.

It permits the shark fin industry to flourish through allowing the possession, sale and trade in shark fin.  An extremely cruel, barbaric and unsustainable industry that has been outlawed in other parts of the world.

Help us bring international pressure on the Queensland government to act as a responsible Commonwealth Games host by conserving its marine wildlife rather than permitting its ongoing slaughter.
I hold great concerns that your government has been awared the prestigious right to host the 2018 Commonwealth Games yet you are responsible for the ongoing slaughter of your marine wildlife.

Before I can patronise the 2018 Commonwealth Games I want to see the Queensland government undertake the following:

1) Stop killing sharks on the Great Barrier Reef
2) Remove the baited drum lines and nets along your coast line
3) Make it illegal to possess and trade in shark fin

Your Sincerely,

A concerned Commonwealth Games lover
