School Uniforms? Good for children or parents?

Uniforms are only good for school officials and some parents of children. Some children live in low income households and their parents can barely afford normal clothes, and uniforms would be out of their price range. Other children are either shorter, taller, slimmer, or plus sized and uniforms would place an undue burden on these children and their parents as well. The lowest price found online for one pair of uniform pants is 17 dollars plus tax. The typical cost to simply have those pants hemmed is 10 dollars. If there are other types of altering needed to be done the cost goes up.

This is not good for children, and the dress codes in place now regulate what children can wear as children are sent home or parents contacted if the clothing is inappropriate.

Do not force children to become one of many when we should be expressing our individuality and keep this cost off of our parents, many of whom are ill-equipped to handle the expense associated with school uniforms.
