Brody is the piti mix that hubby rescued from his job and a friend brought home a few weeks ago, on March 19th and was brought to me, a person who does rescue, in hopes of finding his family. Well, I have done everything in my power to find his owner. I contacted Bloomfield ACO, gave her my name and number, checked for a micro chip at the vet the following morning, postered all over town huge neon posters, which have since been ripped down by none other than animal control, which is what we have been told, placed an ad with his photo in the pets section and contacted all the surrounding vets and sent them his photo with my number. Sounds like I am doing the right thing, right?? Well, according to ACO Sparks in Bloomfield, CT. 860-242-5501, the town where he was found, I am a "criminal and a thief". I was met at my house and arrested for LARCENY.

Here is my timeline from that day, March 19th, 2014.  *9:30am: Brody was seen walking around the business.  *12:30pm: Brody was hanging out and eating with the contractors. Animal control officer Sparks was contacted TWICE but she never responded.  The police were conacted THREE times but each time they came, they just left mee there.  The Simon Foundation ad animal conrol officer Sparks was contacted AGAIN and still no response.  *4:30pm: Brody was still hanging around.  Several people tried to catch hm so he wouldn't get hurt near the busy road so they payed fetch with sticks.  Then they pickd him up and placed him in a workers car and that worker brought him to an animal rescues home for his safety.

A warrant was stated to me but never shown.  My rights were mumbled by the Detective and read in full.  Apparently, BAC would rather have had this sweet boy's fate unknown because of his breed instead of someone trying to do the right thing and find it's owner. The police officers all commended me for my willingness to find the owner and/or to find a permanent home and have Brody adopted after waiting for 7 days to try and find the owner. Rescue is what I do. I am not a shelter nor do I run a full time rescue, I am just one person who lovees animals and helps them out in any way I can. I do NOT allow any animal; breed or disability, look death in the face or have any of them sit in a metal cage when foster homes are the more humane way to go with actual physical human contact. I did not steal this dog, as stated in a statement to the court by BAC officer Sparks but in fact, I was not even home when Brody showed up ay my house.  I was in the hospital after my daughter was recovering from surgery.

Brody was actually brought to my house by another person who was able to catch him running around outside near a busy street at hubby's job.  The arresting officer is the same officer who was sent to try and pick up Brody with not ONE but TWO failed attempts and then he left.  The workers at hubby's job stated that the officer hit Brody on his head with his snare causing Brody to be scared and run away from him. :(  I have tried so hard to network with all of the Facebook pages in my area for lost and found and networked all around town to find his family.  Leaving this sweet and innocent dog outside in the cold to roam free on a busy street and possibly get hurt or even worse, get hit and killed by a car, was not an option for any of the workers who helped him on that cold Thursday evening.  The animal rescuer who was trying to find Brody's owner was also getting ready to meet potential adopters and was charging ZERO dollars for his adoption if his family could not be located and diligently seasrched for more than 2 weeks.

I find myself facing court on Wednesday, 4/9/14 for larceny because ACO Sparks would rather have had a different outcome. I left her my name, address and phone number after I contacted her. In order to be released from jail I had to agree that my foster, where he has been for 2 weeks and doing amazng, will bring him to the police station and that BAC Sparks would let them adopt Brody and bring him home that very same night.  This was all a LIE and they made them hand him over and placed poor Brody in impound.  THIS is what I was told by the officer. If I did not tell my fosters to bring Brody down, then they would continue with new arrest warrants and next time I would be spending time in jail. BAS Sparks also refuses to allow me or anyone affiliated with a "criminal" adopt him as she has stated several times that I am a "thief" and how Brody is now part of a "criminal case" an how she knows who the owners are as was also stated to me by the arresting police officer and how they want him back. This was all a LIE because if the owners were really found, then why is Brody still sitting in impound and why now, after all the commotion with Brody and my supporters calling BAC Sparks (860-242-5501) and giving her a piece of their minds, that Brody is now going to be up for adoption after only 2 days in impound and not the state law required 7 days?? So I ask you again, how is trying to find an owner turn someone into larceny?? This is just another attempt at egos gone wrong!! It is a disgrace and I, for one, will continue to fight for Brody's release and I hope you will fight with me. My hubby is SO proud of me and the work I do for animals.

Be sure to spread the word about Brody's injustice and the injustice brought about on his rescuer.  Bloomfield animal control in Bloomfield, CT. 860-242-5501 ACO Sparks.  Hartford municipal court house on Washington Street in Hartford, CT.  Wednesday morning at 9:30am, 4/9/2014

We want the release of Brody back to the animal rescuer and ALL charges dropped against the rescuer for the false arrest of larceny.

Update #39 years ago
Tell ACO Christine Sparks of the Bloomfield animal control and the Bloomfield police department 860-242-5501 ext. 5450 your thoughts on how they all mishandled helping Brody one month ago when so many calls were made and they went ignored until one person and their rescue helped this sweet boy. Facebook: www.facebook.com/bloomfieldanimalcontrol Brody still sits in a jail cell with his fate unknown!!
Update #29 years ago
4/9/2014: Our case was not dismissed today. The prosecutor offered a plea deal of 7 days community service which I will NOT be taking. Trial is set for 5/8 and he's hoping I get a felony larceny charge that will be on my permanent record. It's insane and will be hiring a lawyer to fight the charges. I will NOT plead guilty to something I didn't do. In fact, I did ACO Sparks job when she chose not to answer 3 calls regarding Brody running loose.
