Speaker Paul Ryan: Remove Rep. Devin Nunes from the House Intelligence committee!

Just as we were beginning to hear evidence of how Russia infiltrated & influenced our 2016 election, (during the first session of the House Intelligence Committee on Mon.,9/20/17), suddenly over the next 2 days we learned that the Committee chair, Devin Nunes (R, CA) met privately at the White House with Donald Trump, to share or discuss evidence - without the knowledge of the Intelligence Committee's Ranking Member, Rep. Adam Schiff.

That alleged evidence supposedly concerned who on the Trump Transition Team (and/or his Campaign Advisory staff) was allegdly caught up by a FISA warrant, or another investigative agency's "Trump Tower taping," while they were listening to Russian foreign agent(s.) Identified US citizens (who may have included Trump staff or volunteers), were either discussed or party to that wiretapped discussion.

Two issues are being investigated : 1st, whether a wire tap/electronic surveillance of Trump's Campaign Committee headquarters was ordered by the former President, during the runup to the 2016 election, and 2nd, whether any member of Donald Trump's Presidential campaign committee, or any member of his Presidential Transition Team was privy to, involved in planning with, or colluding with Russian foreign agents representing Vladimir Putin. (That collusion may have involved influencing the 2016 election on behalf of Trump, and/or lifting the ongoing sanctions* against Russia, in return for influencing the election in his favor.)

(*Those sanctions were imposed by Pres. Obama, following the Russian invasion and annexation of eastern Ukraine.)

We also learned Rep. Nunes met with Trump without the knowledge of the Intelligence committee co-chair (either at the direction, or with the consent of Speaker of the House, Rep. Paul Ryan. (R, WI.) AND we learned the Committee's Ranking Member Adam Schiff, only learned of Rep. Nunes' sharing of evidence with Donald Trump, by watching the unannounced televised press conferences with Nunes (held outside the White House), and via Donald Trump's on-camera statement of his satisfaction & claiming vindication (of his accusation that Pres. Obama supposedly "illegally wiretapped Trump Tower/campaign headquarters during the 2016 Presidential campaign.")

Since then Rep. Nunes has vaccillated between expressing his sympathy & support of Donald Trump ("due to the onslaught of accusations" against Trump's staff of collusion with Russian agents); and refusing to divulge what evidence he (Nunes) & Trump discussed secretly. He has been unable to justify the violation of his role as Chair of the House Intelligence committee (by divulging evidence to the primary target of that investigation.)

After a week of media queries about why he secretly met with Trump to discuss evidence, Rep. Nunes did occasionally admit his error and agree to share that alleged evidence discussed with Donald Trump (with the other Intelligence Committee members.) However, he hasn't done so. And, even if he does, Nunes' actions have already seriously damaged America's trust in the veracity of any future findings by Rep.Nunes & the Committee.

There are only 3 possible remedies to the damage done to the trustworthiness of the House Intelligence committee:
#1) removal of Rep. Devin Nunes from his position of Committee Chairman; or
#2) the appointment of a Special Prosecutor, answerable to the House Intelligence committee; or
#3) creation of a non-partisan, publicly-based investigative commission (similar to the 09/11 Commission), to take on the role of the Intelligence Committee concerning Russia's infiltration, hacking of, and subsequent influence on the 2016 U.S. Presidential election.

Therefore we signators ask Rep. Paul Ryan, in his role as Speaker of the House, to immediately take one of the above actions, in order to regain control of, and to restore trust in the House Intelligence Committee.

We know online petitions have some success in impacting how government operates. However, the recent protests, email and phone calling campaigns have proven to be most successful in getting their attention. The squeaking wheel does get the most attention -- particularly when they are subjected to tens of of thousands squeaking wheels.

Therefore, in addition to signing this petition, I'm asking you to take a few minutes and make phone calls demanding Rep. Nunes be removed from his role as Intelligence Committee Chair, AND/OR a Special Non-partisan Prosecutor be appointed by Speaker Ryan to complete the investigation begun by the House Intelligence Committee, OR that Speaker Ryan order the creation of an independent, bipartisan, "outside" investigative commission, to determine what infiltration and/or influencing of the 2016 election was attempted or succeeded in, by agents of Russia and President Vladimir Putin.
