The Board of Directors announced on Thursday, January 24, 2014 that Queen of Angels would close its doors forever in June. They cited "low enrollment" as the main reason.  In their press release, they made it clear that they had tried everything and that they were committed to the school and the community.  http://www.documentcloud.org/documents/1009096-qaa.html#document/p1 

If this were true, then why did they:

1. Never consult staff or the community (most staff members cannot name anyone on the Board)

2. Wait to inform the community only DAYS before the bank recalled a loan (which doesn't happen overnight).

3. Make their positions so untouchable that they cannot be voted out or forced to step aside in favour of new blood?

The BOD made it very clear that they have other priorities in life and this is a volunteer position.  As such, they will not miss a meal or lose a sense of themselves whereas the staff has been left scrambling for jobs and the students have lost a home.

What the board HAS done is FAIL the community.  

The BEST thing the Board can do for Queen of Angels is to step aside.  It is time that the community stands up to the BOD and demands CHANGE.
