Make the Ojibway Shoreline Area a Nature Preserve

Currently, the Windsor Port Authority is seeking to develop the shoreline as a manufacturing facility. It is the beautiful and ancient home to rare species of flora and fauna and is the northern connection to the Detroit River of four park areas. The better use of this land is to leave it as a nature reserve, and natural companion to the new Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority international bridge being built, under the auspice of the Canadian Ministry of Transport, which also oversees the Windsor Port Authority. Ministry, and Port Authority, please protect this nature reserve.

Dear Ministry of Transport Minister Lisa Raitt and Ministry of the Environment Minister Leona Aglukkaq

Attached is a jpeg of a call to protect a very dear natural area that is under the administration of the Windsor Port Authority, which reports to the Ministry of Transport.

I have tried to put the context of this area into perspective.  I have previously appealed to you, Minister Aglukkaq regarding possibly making a National Urban Park of this area, and thank you for your information regarding the Rouge National Urban Park in metro Toronto.

I realize though, that this protection of this ancient shoreline is best requested to you, Minister Rait, as the Windsor Port Authority reports to you.

Please honour the historic value of this shoreline and the continuity of the beautiful parkland and its species by protecting this area from development.  This development is indicated as the current will of the Windsor Port Authority.

What a better gift to the citizens of the area than to create a loving nature reserve to the immediate west of the new international bridge.

With deep respect,

Bruce Alexander Jamieson
