Please help save 300 pets from euthanasia due to lack of funding

The doors to the Hillside SPCA are in imminent danger of closing in the next couple weeks and, if they do close, more than 300 animals could be put to sleep as a result.

A lethal combination of a slumping economy, high insurance and workers’ compensation premiums and a rise in minimum wage has put a strain on the Hillside SPCA’s finances.

In addition to those conditions, $7,000 in unexpected repairs to pipes in its building, a recent $4,600 fuel oil delivery, several cases involving large-scale cruelty cases and rescues have hit the shelter hard. The added number of animals has also caused medication bills and costs for veterinary care to rise. . Please sign and donate if you can:

Adoption Hours:

· For dogs: Monday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

· For cats: Monday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
