Please sign and share this petition in an effort to demand that the Tiger Kingdom in Phuket, Thailand never allow tourists to get into their enclosures, putting them in danger of being scratched, bitten and mauled as Mr. Goudie suffered. Whether there is someone overseeing the interactions with what some may see as "tame" tigers, there is no such thing with an animal of wild instincts. Put a ban on such practices or close down the Phuket animal park!

Just recently, Australian tourist Paul Goudie visited the Phuket animal park where he was allowed to enter an enclosure to have a personal encounter with these beautiful creatures. Supposedly, at every gate, tourists are told about tiger behavior and how tourists should behave. Who can tell the tigers how to behave? They are gorgeous beings that deserve respect because, any way you look at it, they are a naturally wild animal with wild instincts. Despite how a tourists behaves, there is never a guarantee the tiger will not feel spooked or scared, reacting accordingly.

It is unfortunate that Mr. Goudie of Werribee near Melbourne had to be the latest victim of an attack and he holds no blame on the park and staff. Phuketwan news brought the story to light, interviewing Mr. Goudie; however, it is suspected that if these news authorities did not come forth with the story, Tiger Kingdom might have kept the attack a private matter (swept under the rug.) Initially they declined to even answer any questions to the news media about the occurrence. They tried to intervene with their interview of Mr. Goudie.

PETA has gotten involved in the incident states that the tigers in the park are fed well and appear to kept in perfect health; however, the question always remains, should these creatures be kept in captivity or in their ever depleting natural environment? PETA also assumes that the big cats in captivity are not happy, which is something nobody can say with certainty. Whether the tigers should be on display for private profit or kept in a government-sanctioned facility is another issue.

Tiger Kingdom justifies the attack by speculating various reasons for the attack. The fact of the matter is this man could've been killed. You can read the full story at http://phuketwan.com/tourism/animal-rights-activists-bite-back-phuket-tiger-mauls-tourist-21252/. Whatever the speculations, this same situation can occur again and again, resulting in a more fatal outcome. Are they really waiting for people to die before they change their rules about people entering a closed cage with a wild tiger? Mr. Goudie is going to make a full recovery but this may not always be the case. Allow people, from a safe distance, to view, photo and enjoy the majesty and beauty of these gorgeous creatures in a safe, healthy manner for the animals and tourists. They claim this to be the first incident, but just as they tried to keep this a secret, who knows how many others there were that have not been reported? Ban the practice of tourists interaction with wild animals!

Tiger Kingdom and Wildlife/Environment Government Officials in Phuket, Thailand - Your practices of allowing tourists within cages with live, wild tigers is extremely dangerous and unsafe for tourists. You need to place a ban on such practices before fatalities occur. Viewing these majestic beings at a safe distance without actual personal interactions is a much better option as viewing them in zoos. These are wild animals with wild instincts. You cannot control their behaviors and possible outbursts but you can control attacks on humans by banning such up and close personal interactions. Ban the practice of allowing humans like tourists within a cage with any tiger for their emotional safety and physical safety of the people involved. Otherwise, this entire facility needs to be shut down! In support of the efforts of PETA, these cats are not happy in a captivity environment and certainly should not be face-to-face with tourists!
