Tell Scientists: Genetically Modified Cows Won't Stop Climate Change!

Cows raised for beef contribute to climate change, but they also suffer from it. Scientists are currently working to create genetically modified (GM) Angus cattle with dark hides and white hair that would resist higher temperatures.

This project skirts the issue of climate change. Meat industry pollution will continue to contribute to climate change regardless. The long-term effects of GM foods on consumers is uncertain, and meat from GM cows could endanger consumers' health further down the road. GM cows could also breed with normal cattle.

Scientists should focus on reducing the livestock industry's effects on climate change, and on improving farming conditions so that normal cows can feel comfortable. Experimenting on cows to create genetically engineered heat-resistant animals avoids the issue of climate change and may introduce worse problems.

The USDA must approve GM cows before they can be used for meat. Please sign the petition to urge the USDA to ban GM cows!

We, the undersigned, are concerned with the current efforts to create heat-resistant cattle. As you know, cows raised for beef contribute to climate change, but they also suffer from it. In response, scientists are working to create to create genetically modified (GM) Angus cattle with dark hides and white hair that would resist higher temperatures.

We believe that this project skirts the issue of climate change.

We know that the USDA must approve GM cows before they can be used for meat. We respectfully urge you to ban GM cows. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
