more safety placed at the mill pond, Pembroke

Three deaths have occurred this year so far at the mill pond, Pembroke. There have been more deaths in previous years but yet the council have not put any safety precautions into place to possibly reduce accidently deaths.
It is time for the local council to look at the mill pond and decide how to address these issues. We propose more lightening in the area, fences to be erected around certain areas such as the castle walk and for safety nets to be installed near the bridges. More life aids to be placed in the vicinity and possibly installing emergency telephones. Sign posts explaining the dangers of the water could be placed around the mill pond.

The best solution to prevent any further deaths is to prohibit any swimming of any kind. If a person is caught swimming in the mill pond then they should be issued with a fine.
My 18 year old nephew Robert Mansfield sadly lost his life in the mill pond on 27th July. As a family we urge people to sign this petition to help prevent a tragedy of this kind happening again. We sadly can't bring Robert back but will fight to have some seriously needed safety measures brought into place
