As is in many other areas of the country, Ireland faces some issues of dog attacks for mail carriers. No one should be so fearful of going to work due to dog aggression when trying to simply deliver a person’s mail. We are proposing that the Ireland lawmakers to draft laws in consultation with Ireland's postal service, known as “An Post.” Maybe some suggestions would be to move the mail boxes safely away from an animals’ access or ensure animals are restrained during mail deliveries.
As many as 64 postmen and women have been attacked by dogs across Northern Ireland in just the past year while performing their delivery duties. It appears that each day a mail person is attacked while on duty. This is quite unfortunate and something needs to be done to make their jobs safer.
Help us in our efforts to encourage some law changes and regulations that would ensure a better work environment for postal service people.
