Harsher punishment for animal abusers! Lock them up and throw away the key!
Dear United States Congress, Animal abusers continues to get away with their crimes by receiving a light slap on the wrist in the USA, and IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE! We demand harsher and longer sentences for animal abusers, and that their owning ANY animal after the first offense be illegal! Animal cruelty should be a felony, period! These are dangerous criminals who do pose a threat to the public, and they should be treated as such.
In 85% of homes where a woman or child is being abused there is also an animal who suffers abuse. 60% of women who have been abused have had a pet violently killed. People who abused pets as children are much more likely to commit violent crimes against people.
Serial killers almost always started their killing sprees on animals before moving on to people. Studies of violent offenders in prison show that nearly 75% of them had earlier records of animal cruelty.
We The People DEMAND the following:
1. Make animal cruelty a felony.
2. Longer prison sentences for animal abusers.
3. All convicted animal abusers must register as a convicted animal abuser, and before they move to any new home location, they must make every single person in that specific neighborhood aware that they are a registered animal abuser.
4. Make it illegal for any convicted animal abuser to possess an animal, or live in a home that has any animals.
