Mike Huckabee has organized "Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day" in order to defend the restaurant chain's anti-gay stance.
Chick-Fil-A is a religious organization that has given millions of dollars to anti-gay groups. Recently, CEO Dan Cathy said in an interview that legalizing gay marriage is "inviting God's judgement on our nation".
Many LGBT supporters are boycotting the company or taking other actions to show support, like the mayor of Boston who has vowed to keep them out of his city, and the Jim Henson Company who has decided to stop making toys for their kids' meals.
In response, Huckabee is asking the public to eat at Chick-Fil-A on August 1st in order to "take a stand for Godly values", which apparently include homophobia and bigotry. Please tell Huckabee that Chick-Fil-A doesn't need his help and to stand with equality, not hate!
I am writing to you today because you recently organized a "Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day".
You organized this because many LGBT folks and allies are boycotting Chick-Fil-A due to their anti-gay stance. You said that those that believe in "Godly values" should eat at Chick-Fil-A on August 1st to show support for this "wonderful Christian family" that you say "operates on Christian principles".
Well apparently, those principals include hate, bigotry, and homophobia.
Chick-Fil-A doesn't need your help -- stand with equality, not hate.
Thank you for your time.
