Neighborhood Safety for Cherry Street New Britain, CT

I am a resident of 350 Cherry Street, New Britain CT. I have resided there for the past 2 years. Our neighborhood is small and very residential. We have a large number of children that reside in our neighborhood.
My main concern when it comes to our neighborhood is the speeding that takes place up and down our street. Due to the fact that we are a small area, a lot of the children gather and play out doors together. Which is something that we all love, community unity with parents and children. We are a tight nit little community and the safety of our children has been a huge concern for sometime.
I feel that our street would benefit from having speed bumps placed in our street to secure that individuals will slow down and be aware of the amount of children at play in the area. We currently have 1 little sign that states this, but not visible for one, and no one pays attention to it.
The parents and neighbors are always patrolling while the children are at play, but we fear that due to speeding and negligence, one day someone will get hurt and were trying to avoid it.
I would even be willing to start a fundraiser if that's what it takes to have this taken care of and have the reassurance of our kids and families safety.
Please help us in signing this petition for the safety of our kids. The last thing any parent wants, is for their child to be outside enjoying the day with their friends and be hurt because of negligence.

We would like to petition that the city of New Britain evaluates our concern for the safety of our children and families. Our street would benefit grately from speed bumps placed on our street and assure that individuals will not speed through our street.
There have been many instances where it has come close to our kids getting hurt by speeding cars. Our street is small and if you do not reside there, you wouldnt be aware that there are many children at play at any given time. Now with the summer coming up, we fear that more traffic will come through the street and with the negigence of others, god forbid one of our kids might get hurt.
Were trying to avoid a tragedy from happening. The issue has gotten so bad, that the next step is this. Trying to bring awareness to the issue and find some resolution that will benefit our youth.
Our neighborhood is tight nit and we encourage our children to play out doors and mingle with their friends, instead of being indoors glued to electronics. Please help us in keeping these little but very beautiful traditions of neighborhood love and community togetherness alive.
We need our childrens safety to come first. Help us achieve that.
