Ask Walmart to Stop selling genetically modified foods

Genetically modified (GM) corn, canola, and soy ingredients are found in more than 70% of all processed foods in the U.S., and the vast majority of U.S. meat, dairy, and poultry products come from animals that have been fed GM soy and corn. To date, there is no scientific information about the human health effects of these "foods." However, it is indisputable that genetically modified crops require ever-increasing applications of toxic chemicals, as "superweeds" develop herbicide resistance. It has also become evident that modified genes from these crops are escaping into the wild and contaminating other plants.
Out of concern for the health of their customers, many major corporations, including Walmart, have already committed to buying milk only from cows that have not been treated with the synthetic bovine growth hormone rBGH.
Out of concern for our health and the health of our environment, we the undersigned now petition the Walmart Corporation to commit to selling only GM-free food products in its stores.
