Clean Up Our Lake Michigan Drinking Waters!

WE, the people of Chicago, IL, petition the State of Illinois, the Cook County Board and the City of Chicago to stop polluted water from negligent business owners and corporations being discharged into waterways that flow into Lake Michigan.

Lake Michigan has traces of heavy metals and carbon based particles that are carcinogens. It is therefore a flawed strategy to release huge volumes of contaminates into our fresh-water system which ultimately effect our natural wildlife and our drinking, cooking, bathing and recreational waters. The most influenced to these pollutants are our Elderly and our children.  We want surprise random testing of Chicago's drinking water.

The deposition of polluted materials from corporation waste onto the Great Lakes requires careful modeling and research. Without research proving that these toxins are harmless, a precautionary principle needs to adopted, and in the interim, alternative methods of waste water and material disposal need to be considered.

Also, the unregulated and illegal disposal of excess waste materials and heavy lead materials needs to be stopped immediately. Lake Michigan is one of the largest lakes within the Great Lakes of North America, and an internationally important heritage site of high biodiversity.

Lake Michigan is also vital to the economic well-being of many people in the Chicagoland area.
We the undersigned want to stop polluted water from negligent business owners and corporations being discharged into waterways that flow into Lake Michigan.

Lake Michigan has high traces of heavy metals and carbon based particles that are carcinogens (cancer-causing). It is therefore a flawed strategy to release huge volumes of contaminates into our fresh-water system which ultimately effect our natural wildlife and our drinking, cooking, bathing and recreational waters. The most influenced to these pollutants are our Elderly and our children.  We want surprise random testing of Chicago's drinking water and checks and balances in place with stiff heavy fines to those who choose to continue to contaminate our waters.

We need your help to make these changes possible.  We are petitioning for 10,000 complete signatures to present to the Cook County Board and the State of Illinois in order to show our local and state government, that they need to change the laws or at least place it on the ballot for it to be voted upon by the citizens to change the law.

We appreciate you taking time out of your day, to read our letter.  I hope this letter shed some light on a hidden issue that has been growing and it insight you to want to take action and sign our petition.  Thank you.
