Extension of time of the deadline to sign the "Chapter Agreement" by December 31, 2011.

Members of Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity Incorporated hereby request an extension of time of the December 31, 2011 signing deadline of the CHAPTER AGREEMENT, hereinafter AGREEMENT, between PHI IOTA ALPHA FRATERNITY, INC, a New York nonprofit corporation represented by its own independent counsel and my respective chapter and members, an unincorporated association.

This would allow a proper time-frame for independent assessment and legal understanding of the contract at the Chapter level and all its members, policy changes that seem appropriate and necessary, as well as the design and implementation of an infrastructure to operate under the newly suggested system.

I, ______________, (also known as BROTHER NAME) a member of Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity Incorporated hereby request an extension of the December 31, 2011 signing deadline of the Chapter Agreement, hereinafter AGREEMENT, between PHI IOTA ALPHA FRATERNITY, INC, a New York nonprofit corporation represented by its own independent counsel and my respective chapter and members, an unincorporated association.

We acknowledge that the National Body and its directors have solely advised and instructed the undergraduate chapter representatives of the substantive value of the AGREEMENT, including but not limited to its actual purpose, possible future obligations under the contract and its legal ramifications; nevertheless a full and proper understanding of the AGREEMENT is evidently still absent among our members. This notion is reinforced by the abundant requests recently made by members from the various regions ranging from New York to California that have requested from the National Board, for a clearer clarification of the basis and legal ramifications of the AGREEMENT.

In response, The Board of Trustees and its officers have recently held regional “phone conferences” in an effort to endorse and explain the significance of the AGREEMENT. Thus, creating an even larger misunderstanding of the significance of its signing and the legal components found therein. Furthermore, within these meetings, it has been sternly warned to the individual Chapters, by Board members of the National Fraternity, that failure to meet the AGREEMENT current deadline will be viewed as a punishable violation by the Board of Trustees, resulting in the suspension of the current Chapter/Charter.

It is our understanding that no definite and irrevocable draft of the AGREEMENT has actually been furnished, as it appears amendments are still being worked on at this moment, at the request of its members. Therefore, in the best interest of our organization, all those AGREEMENT that may have been already signed should be rescinded and an extension of at least 30 days be given. This would allow a proper time-frame for independent assessment and legal understanding of the contract at the Chapter level and all its members, policy changes that seem appropriate and necessary to The National Book Of Policy, as well as the design and implementation of an infrastructure to operate under the newly suggested system.
