The plastic, the aluminioum cans, the paper, the glass. All of them are materials that we can recycle. But here in Greece, there is a big problem; there aren't many recycling bins and if someone wants to do somethink for the planet, he can't. And that's seems a downright shime, because nowadays, the earth need us and if us, the new generation can't make the deference, then who can? It doesn't matter if you live or not in Greece, the matter is that the everything we do for any place around the world, is good for every creature in the earth!!!!! So sign this petition for a cleaner feauture!!!

After working in Nidri (Lefkada) and finding that there are no options for recycling, I fully support your outcry for better recycling. It's a shame that your beautifull country is being polluted by plastic waste and hardly anybody takes the time and effort to do anything about it. I wish you the best of luck. Huib Roggenkamp

I live in North Greece and would love to recycle, but apart from being able to recycle batteries and electronic goods there is absolutly no recycling bins here at all. None of my household waste can be recycled. The nearest recycling bins to my house are 90 km away in Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece. Just to think that I live in a tourist area where thousands of tourist come a year.

Hopefully these efforts will have positive results and, in addition to the bins, there will be proper pick-up and processing of recyclable materials.

There is NO DOUBT that availability and accessibility of recycling bins increases their use by everyone. More bins EVERYWHERE along with some public education and media coverage at the same time will turn even the most ignorant or "unwilling to recycle" citizen to one that wants to recycle. Think of the finacial rewards for the cities and the ecological rewards for everyone in the planet. We just need a little "push" and recycling bins to achieve this!

So little effort for the possibility of a different kind of future for new generations!

The population needs to be educated into using these bins in a proper manner and eventually separate bins for paper and bottles would be even better.

Teach the people in Greece the difference between a garbage bin and a recycling bin! And why it is so worth the effort!

I have just trekked across two blocks in the heat of the Athens afternoon to put my recycling in the correct, blue bin. There is a geneal rubbish bin right outside my house. No wonder people are tempted to dump everything in it! Please can we have an equal number of recycling to general rubbish bins!

In the areas in Greece where recycling bins have been placed, as in the area where I live, these are widely used and very quickly filled

yes, we need bins particularly in central athens where i live amidst the many wholesalers and retailers who throw away copious amounts of cardboard boxes etc which could be recycled easily. this should be a government priority and bins that are readily available for people to recycle without the trouble of having to walk to stadiou or syntagma. act now and do something for the planet.

In Melissia and Anavissos/Fokia, we have recycling bins - though in my opinion - too few! More effort needs to be made to encourage the Greeks to recycle - most couldn't care less. Its usually the foreigners who make the effort. Every day I see rubbish which should be put in the blue bins has been put in the green-topped bins which are for non-recyclable rubbish. However, unless a blue bin is right next to the ordinary bin this will continue to happen.
