Save the Japanese dolphins.

The IWC( International Whaling Commission) banned commercial whaling, yet the slaughter of these mammals has not ended. The Japanese claim that they are doing 'scientific research' and to make it worse the rules of the IWC allow for this 'scientific research'. The meat is then sold across Japan in restaurants and markets.  Japan's catch still increases every year and the number whales are decreasing drastically. This means more and more of now endangered whales are being murdered.
Japan has now started fishing and slaughtering dolphins as well and this meat is now also being sold commercially, sometimes even under the name of whale meat. 'The Cove' is one of I'm sure many productions that shows this slaughtering. In a small town called Taiji the residents are not even aware of the mass murder of dolphins each day. These innocent animals are brutally killed everyday, with the Japanese claiming that they have improved their killing methods, but sufficient evidence proves otherwise. Their meat is then also sold across Japan with high levels of mercury in it that is harmful to young children and pregnant women.
Whales and dolphins are key to the oceanic ecosystem and an 8th wonder of the world and to see them disappear is something that we are working together to stop. Please sign our petition in an attempt to save these beautiful marine creatures. Your support will be greatly appreciated!

Dear Ministrer

Re: The ongoing slaughtering of dolphins and whales

We the undersigned agree that the slaughter of whales and dolphins on the coasts of Japan should be banned due to the major environmental threats and threats to the health of mankind that this killing poses.

Thousands of whales and dolphins are slaughtered every year, apparently for 'research'. What research is being done that thousands of these species are needed? Whale and dolphin meat is still found in restaurants and in markets which shows that this so called 'research' is only a cover up for the bigger scheme. If the research was being conducting the scientists involved should by now have realised the obvious truth that the number of these animals are decreasing drastically and will become completely extinct within the next 20 years. Is the research still what is really happening?

Another issue that is a threat to humans is that the dolphin meat often contains high levels of mercury that far exceed the stipulated amount that is healthy for humans to consume. Children can be born with deformalities or without certain organs and this should be a great concern to the Japanese government. What do you intend to do about this problem?

Whales are nearing extinction and dolphins are following the same path with all the mass murdering that is taking place on the Japanese coastlines.  The extinction of whales and dolphins will have a great impact on our economy and on the oceanic ecosystem.  The selling of their meat will also put the health of many japanese citizens at risk.

We are very concerned about the wellfare of these animals and people and hopefully you can help the international society and the concerned participants of this petition regarding this very important environmental concern. We would all be very glad to see some sort of reaction or response to this petition. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, it is much appreciated.

Love
Brendan and Reece
