Say NO to DOGFIGHTING

SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS ONLY PLEASE

The lnks between dogfighting, gang activity, drug abuse and other crime and violence are well-established. Dogfighting happens out of sight, in warehouses   and other carefully concealed locations and only a close-knit network knows when or where they will take place.

The abuses and cruelty taking place at these dogfights are unspeakable, as is the manner in which the dogs are disposed of when they are no longer useful. Dogfighting is illegal in our law, and is practised by people from many walks of life - often high-profile businessmen have been known to be involved.

Many young people see the ownership of fighting dogs as status symbols that boost their self-esteem; they are insecure, insensitive people who do not care for the animals or the law.

We therefore request that the SAPS commit to a specialist task force to eradicate dogfighting in South Africa, which if successful will benefit both the community and our animals.

We the undersigned request that the SAPS create a special task force, dedicated to eradicating dogfighting in South Africa.

If we are to say NO to dogfighting, we cannot do so without the assitance of the SAPS.

Thank you for taking the time to read our request.
