Release Joe the Chimpanzee From Solitary Confinement

Problems still continue regarding the confinement of chimpanzees in various facilities, schools and zoos such as Joe that is being held at a facility known as the Mobile Zoo in Alabama.  He is allegedly being held at the zoo in a desolate enclosure, spending his early years in the entertainment industry.  Joe is said to have been taken away from his mother as an infant and forced to perform, an unnatural life for him as a youngster and through his years of confinement.

You can read the full story of Joe at http://www.peta.org/action/action-alerts/mobile-zoo-retire-joe-sanctuary/As noted, the zoo was cited for some possible abuse by the USDA of apparent inadequate living quarters, providing any social or psychological needs and allegations of allowing visitors to throw peanuts at him, causing him to lash out in response. After being a part of the entertainment industry for about 10 years, Joe was dumped at the Mobile Roadside Zoo where he has since lived in complete isolation.

Our hope and efforts through this petition is to encourage the officials at this Mobile Zoo to consider the health and well-being of Joe the Chimpanzee and place this amazing animal in a safe, healthy and reputable sanctuary.  You can help us in our efforts by signing and sharing this petition.  We need to be a voice for Joe and speak out in his name.  He deserves proper care, medical attention, companionship and enrichment for the remainder of his life to live as a happy and healthy chimp.

Mobile Zoo – Joe the Chimpanzee most certainly did not choose to live a life of entertainment and confinement in barren surroundings at your zoo or any such facility.  This poor creature was apparently taken from his home and mother as an infant and thrown into this unnatural type of life.  We are strongly urging you to consider the health and well-being of Joe and ensure that you place him into a safe, healthy and reputable sanctuary where he can live a happy life as a chimp with much needed enrichment and companionship for the remainder of his years.
