In Victoria, Australia our telephone natonal carrier is Telstra. Surrounding every streetside wire pillar there are thousands of discarded plastic covered wires. Not only is this poor workmanship and laziness, it shows the lack of proper training, procedures and oversight.
If drinking straws are bad for the environment and marinelife, these tiny plastic discards are too.
No one thus far has addressed this issue.
Realistically, no one has the time, patience or inclination to remove thousands of tiny plastic pieces no matter their abhorrence of litter or commitment to the environment.
It is time Telstra instructs all linesmen to remove these discards each and everytime, including the ones currently in place.
It is a pity these workmen are yet to realise its much easier and less time consuming to dispose of their litter correctly, at the time.
Here's hoping. Please sign as all types of littering must be addressed
