Keep central child development center open!

The rock Hill sc school district has given several proposal options for change for the next few years. One of them is to end the program at Central child development center and send those children to their zone schools; give Sylvia Circle, the Montessori school, The current central development center building and make additions to the building to add a gymnasium cafeteria and other rooms it does not have; and give Headstart, a federally and state-funded school the school district 3 has no jurisdiction over, the Sylvia Circle current location.

This would decentralize the school and this place 369 students that are currently receiving services from central child development center. Central development center house is 85% of the 4K students in our district. And the superintendent said they had no current plans to add any 4K classes to the other elementary schools. This would mean that The children who would go to central child development center would have to compete for positions at the five elementary schools that currently have a full day 4K program, which only allows 20 students at each school. If your child does not get excepted into one of those programs your other options would be to apply for Headstart, if you qualify as a low income family, or pay for your child to go to they private school or one of the tuition based elementary schools in our district The tuition based elementary schools in our district charge $500 a month for your child to go there.

I am collecting signatures to try and keep central child development Center as it is in their current location. This will be presented to the board of trustees at their meeting on January 28, 2016.
