Petition to boycott Roman Polanski petition supporters
We are all incredibly distressed and disappointed by the the astonishing news that more than 400 entertainment industry members have decided to sign a petition excusing Roman Polanski's inexcusable rape of a 13-year-old girl and demanding that he immediately be released from custody now that he is finally being brought back to justice after a 31-year wait.
So far, the list of apparently morally-challenged entertainment industry members who have signed the petition includes Woody Allen, Pedro Almodovar, Jean-Jacques Annaud, Fanny Ardant, Asia Argento, Darren Aronofsky, Olivier Assayas, Monica Bellucci, Anthony Byrne, Patrice Chereau, Luc et Jean-Pierre Dardenne, Guillermo del Toro, Jonathan Demme, Costa Gavras, Terry Gilliam, Wong Kar Wai, Jan Kounen, Emir Kusturica, John Landis, David Lanzmann, David Lynch, Michael Mann, Tonie Marshall, Radu Mihaileanu, Jeanne Moreau, Brett Ratner, Yasmina Reza, Barbet Schroeder, Ettore Scola, Martin Scorsese, Guy Seligmann, Tilda Swinton, Giuseppe Tornatore, and Wim Wenders
We, as entertainment industry consumers, are demanding that any entertainment industry member who has signed this petition immediately remove their name and publicly retract and condemn their earlier support for Polanski. Until then we will forever boycott the purchase or viewing of any entertainment work they produce.

Polanski is living proof that the great aren't neccesarily that. In today's world who on earth could believe that a 'god' in the film industry, who has created some of the greatest films in history (arguably), could do something so monstrous, disgusting, despicable, demonic, and damaging (only a few of an endless list of words) not just to the victim. I suffered from sexual, mental and physical abuse whilst I was only 8, 9 or 10 years old, the perosn who did this to me was only three years older than me, only three, that made HIM only 11, 12 or 13 years old. Yes that's right, as a primary-school BOY I was abused by a young secondary school BOY. He led me to believe that what was happening (various forms of sexual contact) were perfectly alright and normal. At 15 I am now working towards my GCSEs, but even now I am still haunted my him, in my day-to-day life, in my sleep, you name it, and I empathize strongly with this poor girl who had this evil forced on her, because I know how painfully difficult it is to carry on with life (which will never be the same ever again), how at times you just want to scream for an eternity as an act of mental torture just because it is the only escape you have, without 'crossing the barrier'. What made it worse was that the rest of his friends (the same age) were just as sexually filthy in their everyday manner as he was. This is one of the most disturbing wake up calls, how people as young as 11 are already infatuated, infected, possessed and controlled by these animalistic instincts. As I read in another comment below, society has "sexualized its children at younger and younger ages" [Linda Tafoya, Idaho]. If this carries on, the barrier between child and adult will be nothing but blurred to the point of extinction, there will be no such thing as paedophilia. We need to act now, and each and every one of us knows that we can't count on our heroes to help us - look at polanski - one of the biggest/smallest pieces of lowlife ever to have lived. Any human person would see past the giant sunshades and the list of blockbusters and realize how monstrous he really is - all of us are under a terrifying threat of being raped - who knows, it could be YOU. As a native of Hollywood and a person who used to be in the "biz", I am apalled and distressed at the direction Hollywood has taken in it's effort to be non-judgemental and politically correct. But it isn"t entirely the fault of Hollywood liberals but of a rapidly decaying society that, over the last thirty years or so, has sexualized it's children at younger and younger ages. Hollywood just has a big mouth and can get it's message out better than most and it seems that message would be that it's ok for lecherous old men to prey upon little children as long as your an award winning celebrity. I don't think it is enough to know who Polanski's supporters are. I think we need to know who they are who don't support him. In fact I would like to know who they are that actually condenm him enough to come out and say so, and who will refuse to work with him. Any takers, Hollywood? Is there anyone in filmland who has the cojones to risk their career and refuse to work with a child molester or anyone who supports one? I wonder. There are few people on that list who's work I have always enjoyed. Sadly to say, I will never enjoy them again. But I'll get over it.

Does being an 'artist' trump being a rapist? Fugitive. Child. Rapist. Just keep saying it until it sinks in. If this person lived next to you would you feel safe? If this person was exempted from going to trial would you have any confidence in our legal system? If this situation happened to a non famous person there would be no second thoughts, just a trial, which is all that I ask for
Mr. Polanski had not commit an offence what he did is a crime. All musicians, actors ect. should know how to behave to women and girls. If not, he has to show responsible for that.
Performers are role models, support of this kind of behavior is not acceptable.
The rape of anyone of any age is a heinous crime. The "intellegentsia" that supports Polanski includes the President of France and a large part of the European film industry, as well as some American luminaries. The reason given is because he is a "great artist" who should not have his light dimmed, regardless of the shadow he cast on his victim. The facts of the crime and the humanity of the victim are ignored. Yet these hypocrites will continue to make money and preach to the world, using their various forums, about war crimes, the environment, or whatever else blows their horn. I think it's time for the world to stop paying and to stop listening.

Although I am a huge fan of, to my great disappointment, many of the the actors & directors listed in support of Polanski, I cannot support their works any longer in good conscience. Sadly, many of the supporters I know of have children of their own...the fact they cannot or refuse to relate to the situation floors me all together! I'm disgusted!
Aside from the detestable issue of rape itself, there is the issue of evading prosecution for decades. Let the man be returned to finish trial and be sentenced for the original crime, then have him prosecuted for fleeing the country and avoiding arrest all these years since.
Polanski supporters clearly condone paedophilia. They should all be investigated. Shame on them all. We need to protect our children.
