Many carnivorous, wild cats can only be found in the island of Borneo. But new research shows that we're losing them at an alarming rate: half of these majestic cats are expected to go extinct -- unless we act now.

The biggest threats that are endangering half of the cats include: "habitat destruction and fragmentation resulting from logging, illegal hunting, and fires," reports Mongabay. But ignorance and apathy are the real threats.

Many of these species of cats are endemic to the island. Once they're gone, they'll be gone forever.
