The road to Rubha Reidh has been used for 100 years for locals and visitors alike to get to this much loved local landmark and beauty spot and the coast beyond. Now one of the many authorised users and one who pays no contribution into maintenance costs of the private road from Melvaig to Rubha Reidh is trying to stop all vehicle access to Rubha Reidh limiting access to the very fit who can walk or cycle the 7 mile round trip - the other authorised users are happy with the situation as it has always been - drive it at your own risk! To stop this happening the community want to lobby the Highland Council to adopt the road to open up access for all. Please sign - the stronger the lobby the better!
Thanks you so much for your support - we are almost there! The Highland Council has recognised the road as a 'right of public passage' and it is now registered by them as an unadopted road. The public have spoken!

Thanks to all for your support - this case is still ongoing but the petition is now over its set target of 2000 signatures and will be presented to the Highland Council Convener on the end date of the 19th September. The Highland Council is key in the effort to restore rightful access for all at Rubha Reidh and they cannot ignore the public feeling expressed here! Highland Council agrees the road is a 'public right of passage' and is an 'unadopted Road'. This is a road with public vehicular access but is privately maintained.
