Return Maryland School Calendar Decisions to Local Control

Governor Hogan's 2016 executive order on the school calendar has caused unnecessary and undesired changes to school district calendars across the state. Districts must choose to give up things like parent conference days, Jewish holidays, teacher conference days, or Spring Break to meet the Governor's order. Governor Hogan made no attempt to do what is best for schools and children. Return the power to create school calendars to Local school boards who know their communities and are charged to act in the best interest of children.
