Elefant Maya wurde vor einigen Monaten vom Deutschen Zirkus Busch an den Ungarischen Zirkus Europe verkauft, dies obwohl gerade viele Tierschützer sie und ihre Freundin Maya mit einer Petition in die Rente schicken wollten. Maya tourte ohne ihre Freundin unter Anderem in Rumänien, obwohl es eigentlich verboten ist, Elefanten alleine zu halten. Denn diese können ohne ihre Artgenossen schwere Verhaltensstörungen bilden - was bei Maya in diversen Videos ganz klar ersichtlich ist.
Diese Petition an den Ukrainischen Präsidenten persönlich. Viele Länder, wie Mexiko, Iran, Griechenland, Guatemala etc. haben bereits solche Gesetzte erlassen und dem Irsinn ein Ende gesetzt. Nun muss auch Europa den Beispielen folgen.
Wir verlangen vom Präsidenten, dass Elefantin Maya zurück zu Ihrer Freundin in den Deutschn Zoo in Karlsruhe zurück geschickt wird, bis dann für beide einen geigneten Platz gefunden wird.

MAYAS LEIDEN NIMMT KEIN ENDE!
Nachdem Maya in Rumänien auf Tournee war hat man sie nun in der Ukraine entdeckt. Anstatt zusammen mit Nanda im Zoologischer Stadtgarten Karlsruhe zur Ruhe zu kommen, tourt Maya zur Zeit durch die Ukraine*. Die Haltungsbedingungen in ihrem "neuen Zirkus" entsprechen weder ihren, noch den Bedürfnissen der anderen Tiere (u.a. einem Flusspferd) - um es diplomatisch auszudrücken.
Ukrainische Tierschützer haben sich vor Ort umgeschaut. Wie ihrem Foto/Videobericht (per Google Übersetze) zu entnehmen ist, sind die Haltungsbedingungen katastrophal. Die Behörden wurden eingeschaltet.
"Zirkusse können in einer zivilisierten, modernen Gesellschaft nicht existieren!"
*Am 4. August hat die Ukraine ein Verbot beschlossen, das das Mitführen und Auftreten von Wildtieren im reisenden Zirkus verbietet. Wann genau das Verbot in Kraft tritt, ist uns im Moment nicht bekannt.

Elephant Maya has been recently sent from the german Circus Busch seemingly to the Circus Europe und Hungary. The last few months she was touring in Romania and now we have found her still tourin in Ukraine. This just happened while thousands of people where trying to release Maya and her Elephant friend Nanda from the german circus "Busch" to a sanctuary.
Elephants have big social relationsships and suffer in case of separation from relatives and friends. They shouldn't be alone. In Germany it is even forbidden to keep elephants alone without fellow species. It is obvious that Elephant Maya is suffering as she is constantly bobbing her head up and down.
We are suffering togheter with this elephant. Many Countries such as Mexico, Greece, Iran, Guatemala are showing respekt and have already banned this cruelty.
We are in contact with the zoo and they have accepted to take her. After that we will try to send them together to a sanctuary as they can't be separated and will let them to live the life they deserve.
Update 2017/08/08
After loosing connection to Maya we have received news from animal activists in Ukraine. Maya is still touring for a circus in Ukraine. The housing conditions are catasptrophal and we are very concerned about her state.
In August 4 Ukraine banned the carrying and performing of wild animals in touring circuses. We still dont know when this law will take effect. It is time to end this torture now!

Elephant Maya has been recently sent from the german Circus Busch seemingly to the Circus Grande Colosseum in Romania. This just happened while thousands of people where trying to release Maya and her Elephant friend Nanda from the german circus "Busch" to a sanctuary. Petitions have been signed and just before sending it to the authorities we received the sad news that Maya is now seemingly touring in Romanias Circus Grande Colosseum and gets certainly tortured by beeing forced to do painful performance to entertain humans.
Elephants have a big social relationsships and suffer in case of separation from relatives and friends. They shouldn't be alone. It is obvious that Elephant Maya is suffering as she is constantly bobbing her head up and down.
This is shocking for all of us as the Bucharest General Council has just banned wild animals at Romanian Globus Circus. We really thought that Romania is starting to change its circus laws and were in hope. But now we are suffering togheter with this elephant. We are asking you Mr. President to expand this ban for all the other circuses with wild animals. Many Countries such as Mexico, Greece, Iran, Guatemala are showing respekt and have already banned this cruelty.
You have the power to safe this beautiful and intelligent creatures and be an example it this topic. Please start at least with the poor Elephant Maya and send her back to her friend to the Zoo in Karlsruhe Germany. We are in contact with the zoo and they have accepted to take her. After that we will try to send them together to a sanctuary as they can't be separated and will let them to live the life they deserve.
Imagine you would be on chain for your whole life and suddenly you are getting separated from your best friend. No one deserves such a disrespectful treatment.
