In their reportage of Robin Williams' suicide, many newspapers including the Daily Mail have ignored the guidelines of various professional bodies on how to report suicide. The Samaritans organisation has published guidelines based on studies of the statistics. Releasing details of exactly how someone committed suicide is not only ghoulish, but can prompt other people to do the same.
Ask the Daily Mail to apologise for its recent reporting about mental health issues and adopt the Samaritans guidelines for reportage of death by suicide.
