Demanding equality for our Student Achievement Center

Why has AISD-Jefferson Student Achievement Center not built any kind of playground for our kids but can renovate and rebuild complete schools?? Especially when they already have the funds!!!! We have had enough donations to cover the project and it wouldn't cost AISD A penny!!!

It's sad when my 6 year old comes home upset, all because he just wishes they had a playground at his school and he asks if we can get one.
I will make it aware to the public and be willing to try at least to make it happen.

Schools are more and more beginning to resemble maximum-security prison, but at least at most of those institutions, there is one hour of outdoor time.

Everybody has that one memory from their childhood, of them playing imaginatively on the school playground, swinging as high as the tree tops on the swings, bouncing up and down on the see-saws. School playgrounds are not just a place for students, our children, to let off steam or hang out at recess. Playgrounds are supposed to be a fun, safe environment that helps stimulate their absorbent minds. They need playgrounds to allow growth in their cognitive, physical, and social development.

For our younger children and students with short attention spans, the school playground provides a much-needed break from sitting in the classroom. It also allows their minds to refresh, or clear room for further learning.

According to American Academy of Pediatrics and Scientific American, children without access to playgrounds are at greater risks for suffering from depression, anxiety, asthma, diabetes, and obesity.

The amount of time each child spends outdoor has significantly declined. Kids are being offered tablets and electronics as an alternate way of learning, but these kids need a safe outdoor play area to foster good health and emotional well-being.

For our children who can not function in a normal class/school setting, this play is crucial and without it they are being punished for reasons that are not their fault. The Student Achievement Centers are here to help our children succeed but are denying them the one thing that would make them flourish! Outdoor play on an outdoor playground.
