We Do Not Want Monarch Plastics in SouthFields Village

  • by: Eddie Garland
  • recipient: Town of Caledon and Monarch Plastics

In August 2014 the purchase was finalized to Monarch Plastics (not affiliated with our home builders) for the lot at Abbotside Way across from Learmont Ave.

In two weeks (around Dec 11) they will be applying to the Town of Caledon to build a 300,000ft2 plastic blow molding plant with truck entrance across from Learmont. They will be consolidating two plastic plants from Brampton here in our community. Although it is expected they will meet air emissions guidelines this still introduces a (debatable) risk to resident's health.

Because they already own the land the Town of Caledon cannot legally refuse their application if they comply with the guidelines which it seems they do.

Monarch has said that they would not want to build in a community that does not want them. Let's make our voice heard

We found MOE D6 that MPL does not comply with. We retained one of Canada's best Environmental Law firms Willms & Shier to guide the community. I have personally put $500 toward this and others in our group have contributed $250 each. We need your help to raise funds for opposing this through the Ministry of the Environment. https://life.indiegogo.com/fundraisers/southfields-residents-against-industrial-pollution
