Tell your governor to welcome vulnerable refugees!

I am heart-broken that Greg Abbott, the governor of my Texas birthplace, has forgotten that "Tejas" is Caddo for "Friend." He, along with 30 other governors, is abandoning hospitality and giving into Daesh (ISIS) by rejecting the Syrian refugees.

But even though over half our governors have said their states will not accept Daesh's resettled victims, I am still proud to be an American. I know that millions of us will stand together for what's right, and in the end, the values of compassion, inclusion, and justice will carry the day.

The good news is that these 31 governors have no authority to stop refugees. The bad news is that they can still slow the federal government down. Sign this petition today, and Care2 will send a message to your governor asking them to make good on America's promise and address the worst refugee crisis since World War II!

Terrorists don't hide among refugees. We can keep ourselves safe while still championing inclusion and compassion, and without giving in to the bigotry and lies that falsely say all Muslims are terrorists.

And, we cannot let ourselves repeat the mistakes of the Holocaust: America refused to welcome Jewish refugees during World War II out of fear that some were German spies.

Daesh wants us to give in to our fears and further persecute its victims, but the darkest times are when it's most important to shine a light. Sign this petition today, and welcome the vulnerable families who need you!

Please help make good on America's promise, and address the worst refugee crisis since World War II! It would be wrong to turn refugees away from our state.

Terrorists don't hide among refugees. There are far faster and easier ways for them to launch attacks, and the Economist says that not one of the 750,000 refugees settled here since 9/11 has been arrested for domestic terrorism. We can keep ourselves safe while still championing the American values of justice, inclusion, and compassion, and without giving in to the bigotry and lies that falsely imply all Muslims are terrorists.

Nor can we let ourselves repeat the mistakes of the Holocaust: America refused to welcome Jewish refugees during World War II out of fear that some were German spies.
