Petition to Open Dog Park in Cork City

I'll also be looking for the funding off animal welfare associations, because we'll need a few people working in the dog park to keep an eye on the dogs (I will be one of the first to volunteer) and to make sure dog owners understand their dogs' body language. There's too many dog owners out there that are clueless and have no idea about the difference between playing and fighting/aggression. Many dog owners that have small enough dogs are actually afraid of bigger dogs, therefore misinterpreting another dog's actions towards their own, simply because they cannot concentrate on the dog's body language, because they are too distracted and fearful of their size.
If you own a dog you should not be afraid of other dogs, it's as simple as that. Society has put the fear of god into so many people towards big dogs, just because they needed headlines on a newspaper. Not all big dogs are aggressive. Most are docile by nature. Maybe easily irritable, yes, but not vicious. Not ever. If a dog is vicious, it's because their owner is vicious towards them. It's as simple as.
