Free the Dogs in a Box!

12 dogs are being held in a tiny, dark shelter outside of a property illegally inhabited by Mike Thomas. In 2010, the dogs were found infested with fleas and soiled by their own urine and feces, and some dogs had already died of flea anemia.

Though Wythe Humane was permitted to de-flea the dogs and clean their living space, county officials refused to remove the dogs or cite Thomas under VA animal abuse laws.

The 12 dogs continue to suffer in the confined space and receive little sunlight. Photographs of the dogs' space show that it is in clear violation of Virginia animal care statutes 3.2-6503, which requires dogs to have an adequate, properly cleaned shelter. Please sign the petition to urge Wythe County officials to take action against Thomas' mistreatment and have the dogs relocated to a caring rescue group.
