Urge Phoenix Center to fund ABA for individuals served!

Every year, Phoenix Center Behavioral Health Services narrows the choices for person-centered services they will fund for individuals served. One such service that is no longer covered is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). ABA is a highly effective, science-based therapy recommended by advocacy groups, such as Autism Speaks. ABA is used for children, teens, and adults to teach communication, social, life, and academic skills. Furthermore, ABA is a widely effective treatment for problem behaviors. Moreover, an important function of an analyst is to work with parents/caregivers to develop appropriate, and effective treatment goals both at home, and in a school setting. ABA therapy is NOT provided by the public school system.

My children, Jacob and Jonathan Duke have been denied funds to pay for ABA therapy meant to restore a non-violent atmosphere in our home, and used to develop appropriate individualized educational goals at school. We are not alone! Many individuals served by Phoenix Center are affected by the decision to drop funding for critical services.

Please consider supporting this petition that demands parental/caregiver freedom of choice to choose critical therapies such as ABA to improve the health and well-being of their children. By signing this petition, you are helping to create meaningful change for individuals with disabilities, and their families.

Thank you,

Susan Duke
