Ask the NUS to provide environmental ratings for universities

As climate change unfolds at an alarming rate, some UK universities are finally doing their part by divesting away from fossil fuels and engaging with the National Union of Students' (NUS's) Green Impact scheme. But there is no easy way for students to find out which universities are making these vital changes. Please sign this petition to ask the NUS to introduce a simple rating system that recognises the efforts of universities which embrace sustainability.

Climate change is already devastating lives in more vulnerable countries, and its impacts are being felt in the UK in the form of erratic weather and severe flooding. Young people here are facing an uncertain future. Most are understandably keen to support initiatives that will alleviate the threat to their generation, and also minimise the suffering of the most stricken members of our global community.

If students could easily search for the most environmentally progressive institutions when choosing a place to study, it would encourage universities to make the necessary changes. A simple rating system would help to celebrate and support eco-friendly universities who divest and partake in green schemes. Please join us in asking the NUS to develop a simple rating scheme to help students choose universities that divest from fossil fuels and make other environmentally friendly decisions.
