Hurricane relief "Irma" PDO for non-exempt hourly employees

As Hurricane Irma hit Central Florida, not only did it affect employees of Adventist Health System but it affected their families too! There are always exceptions to the rules and last year hourly employees were paid for missed time for the hurricane. The AHS mission statement is “Extending the healing ministry of Christ” and by not paying your non-except (hourly employees), Adventist Health System is not carrying out their mission. AHS is choosing to pay their salary employees and not use their PDO time, verses paying all of their employees. We propose that hourly employees should be included and paid
during the time the office was closed and not be penalized.

Here are a few solutions to consider:
 Pay non-exempt hourly employees for hurricane time when the office is closed.
 Salary employees should use “PDO” if you do not want to pay hourly employees.
 All employees should be considered salary so there is no discrimination.
 A suggestion for future disasters would be for AHS to have an emergency fund.
