Stop Making Taxpayers Foot the Bill for Private Parties
Recently it has come to light that the Coast Guard frequently assigns protection zones for regattas, yacht club parties, and even weddings - for no charge to the wealthy people who stage them. Who gets stuck with the bill? Ordinary taxpayers. This is not fair! People who are rich enough to own fancy boats and yachts are certainly wealthy enough to pay for their own protection.
We the undersigned ask that you stop enforcing safety zones for wealthy boat owners at taxpayer expense. Anybody who is rich enough to afford a yacht can certainly pay for such protection out of his or her pocket! Please ask rich people who ask for such safety zones at sea for parties, weddings, and the like to pay their fair share for your services.
